Apprentices who wish to continue their academic journey after completing their programme have a clear route into higher education.
University life offers far more than academic and vocational learning. It provides the chance to gain valuable extra‑curricular experiences, paid or voluntary work opportunities, increased self‑awareness, and the development of key employability skills such as resilience, motivation and confidence.
Entry onto university courses is determined by each institution’s specific requirements. However, as a general guide, apprentices aiming to progress into higher education are strongly encouraged to achieve a minimum of 240 UCAS points (equivalent to a double distinction).
Higher education also remains a realistic option for players who sign professional terms. Many universities offer flexible study routes, including part‑time and online courses, allowing players to balance education alongside their football commitments.
