LFE recognises that all apprentices have a fundamental right to be protected from harm and exploitation, and they cannot achieve their goals unless they feel and are safe.
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of learners is everyone’s responsibility, ignoring abuse is not an option.
The purpose of LFE’s Safeguarding policy and strategy is to:
- ensure all staff take reasonable measures to assess and minimise the risk of harm to apprentices
- ensure appropriate action is taken where there are concerns about apprentice welfare
- provide staff with clear guidance on procedures to follow if they suspect an apprentice may be at risk
- empower apprentices to keep themselves safe through education and support.
Allegations, concerns or disclosures of a child protection nature received from apprentices will
be referred to the EFL Safeguarding Manager, The FA Case Management Team and/or appropriate statutory agency. LFE’s Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO) will have a role to play in investigating complaints of poor practice.
