LFE is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Middlesbrough Academy graduate Anthony Renton.
A promising young defender during his time at the North East club, Anthony was diagnosed with leukaemia shortly after signing his first professional contract in 2017.
Despite the many hardships he faced in his battle with the disease, Anthony’s positivity throughout was an inspiration to everyone connected with the club and beyond.
In his later years, Anthony spent much of his time coaching—at times with Middlesbrough’s Academy—helping to develop and inspire the next generation.
He passed away peacefully over the weekend, aged 27.
