LFE’s Learner of the Term award celebrates the efforts of students who have made excellent academic progress and a positive contribution at their respective FCC’s. The winner has earned a £200 Amazon voucher.
Max Clare – Fleetwood Town
Max Clare of Fleetwood Town’s FCC is the winner of LFE’s Learner of the Term award for the September – December term.
Ross Powell, Head of Education at the Cod Army’s FCC, detailed why he felt Max was a deserving winner of the award.
“Max joined the programme at the beginning of October in 2024 after deciding to transfer from another college,” Ross told LFE. “Unfortunately, during his first training session on programme, Max tore his ACL, and has been unable to take part in the football aspect of the programme since. Despite having to miss around six weeks of education last year due to surgery and recovery, Max displayed fantastic resilience and managed to keep on top of his coursework from home, consistently achieving distinctions.
“He has returned to the programme this year with the same positive attitude, excellent behaviour, and high work rate, continuing to achieve distinctions across all of his assignments. As he is still unable to participate in the football programme, he begun supporting the coaching staff by analysing matchday footage. He’s also began a placement with the organisation’s media team on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The feedback I’ve received from everyone within the organisation throughout the year has been excellent, and it’s a credit to Max’s attitude and professionalism.”
