Mason King- Accrington Stanley

Mason King recently completed his time on the CCO Study Programme with Accrington Stanley and achieved an impressive final grade of D*D*D* (triple distinction star).

Mark Whalley, Head of Education & Employability at Accrington, gave LFE a detailed insight into Mason’s achievements within the organisation…

“During Mason’s journey on the programme he’s enjoyed an exceptional time outside of the classroom particularly. He’s won back-to-back league titles, gone above and beyond with his work experience, and also enjoyed trips to Italy and Portugal with the organisation. During the visits he improved his personal responsibility, maturity, and independence, all whilst immersing himself in different cultures.

“In the classroom, not only did Mason achieve above his target grade, he did so by displaying exemplary time management skills given his commitments outside of the course. Alongside his studies he achieved two promotions within his refereeing, now officiating at the semi-professional level. Due to his dedication to the coaching aspect of the course, Mason also runs his own grassroots football team and has cited the confidence and knowledge he gained during his work experience as a contributing factor to him taking on a managerial role. In addition to this, Mason’s also gained paid work within the organisation’s sport department, currently working over twenty hours per week.

“Mason will now continue his journey by progressing onto the Sports Coaching degree with the University of South Wales whilst continuing to work part time with us.”
